According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:


Arrest warrants were obtained for a 51-year-old Aiken woman who forged a prescription in order to get painkillers. An employee of the pharmacy suspected the prescription was fake and notified police and the doctor’s office.


An unknown woman tried to shoplift a number of items from a store on York Street on Monday. When confronted by a store employee, the woman placed the items on the counter and left.


A 28-year-old Augusta woman was detained for shoplifting on Monday after she tried to take about $100 in merchandise from a Richland Avenue store without paying.


Shoplifting warrants were obtained for a 31-year-old Monetta man who tried to shoplift from a store on Richland Avenue on Tuesday. The man, who was reportedly “recently an employee” at the store, dropped the items and fled when approached by a loss prevention officer.


An 18-year-old Wagener woman was detained for shoplifting on Tuesday after concealing items in her purse and trying to leave a store on Whiskey Road.


An Aiken woman reported finding a pistol in some woods on Richland Avenue on Tuesday while walking her dog.


A burglary was reported at a home on Carver Terrace on Monday. The owner reported two televisions, a video game system and games missing.


Officers responded to an alarm at a business on South Centennial Avenue on Monday that was caused by an open door. The building was cleared and the door was secured.

A Beech Island woman reported identity theft on Tuesday after learning that someone used her credit card information to make a purchase at a store in Las Vegas.


A truck driver reported on Tuesday that someone took 70 gallons of gasoline from his truck on Old 96 Indian Trail in Batesburg.


A 46-year-old Beech Island woman reported on Tuesday that she was assaulted by a male suspect who lives in her Gladys Drive home. The male suspect was reportedly drunk and locked the woman out of the home for most of the day. When the victim tried to charge her phone in an outdoor outlet, the suspect struck her in the face with a hammer, knocking her unconscious. The suspect had left the scene when officers arrived.
