The 2013 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year will get New Year's Day off.

Dogwood Stable's Palace Malice won't train on Wednesday, but people will still have an opportunity to see him graze at 1:30 p.m. The winner of the 145th running of the Belmont Stakes will return to training on Thursday at 8:30 a.m., and will breeze 3/8-mile at the Aiken Training Track on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Shipping plans are being made, and Palace Malice most likely will be leaving for the barn of trainer Todd Pletcher at Palm Meadows Training Center, Boynton Beach, Fla., on Jan. 7, said W. Cothran Campbell, Dogwood Stable president.

“He galloped a mile and a half today, and went at a good clip,” Campbell said.

Palace Malice's last day training over the Aiken Training Track will be Jan. 6 at 8:30 a.m.
