Local drive collects pet food to assist seniors with pets
The South Carolina Bar Animal Law Committee is collecting cat and dog food for its 2013 Holiday Pet Food Drive, and items can be dropped off at the Law Office of Margaret Tribert, 116 Waterloo St. in Aiken.
Volunteers are collecting food through Dec. 31. Items needed include canned dog food, canned cat food, dry dog food, dry cat food, dog treats, cat treats and cat litter.
Tribert's office will collect donations Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon or by special arrangement. Donations will be delivered to the Aiken Area Council on Aging to assist senior citizens with pets.
“The holidays can be tough on budgets, and we want to make sure pets throughout South Carolina are able to stay in their homes and are taken care of,” said Katie Phillips, coordinator for the Holiday Pet Food Drive.
Pet food donations can also be made through online retailers, such as Amazon and Petango, and shipped directly to the pet food bank.
Tribert can be reached at email@example.com.
