By whose authority was war declared on the trees of Aiken? Iím sure we have arborist guardians because there are frequent lectures on the sin of crape murder, so why are there no voices raised when large 90-degree angles are cut from the tops of stately old magnolia, and live oaks?

This is not judicious pruning, but brutal butchering. Some trees are left looking so grotesque that they might rather have been taken down entirely.

It is ironic that this is happening in a town renowned for the beauty and variety of its many trees.
