Letter: Donations to Philippines relief much appreciated in community

The Filipino-American Association of Greater Aikenís Christmas Party held recently in the Municipal Center was, in our estimation, an outstanding success.

The warmth and hospitality from the Association members and other members of this community group made us feel very welcome. There was also a large variety of ethnic foods and desserts from which to choose, coupled with entertainment and music.

Part of the celebration was also to take donations for relief efforts in the Philippines as a result of a recent typhoon. Having lived in the Philippines for two years, this event brought back many happy memories of the food and friendship. We look forward to next yearís event.
