ANNIVERSARY: Copes celebrate 50th anniversary

Esther and Winfred Cope of Aiken celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 2013. Earlier in the month, their children and grandchildren hosted a celebration, attended by family and friends, highlighted by a video of their life together.

Their children are Darlene and Glenn Williams of Graniteville, and Bruce and Stephanie Cope of Lexington. Esther and Winfred are the proud grandparents of Evan and Jacob Williams and Macy and Hampton Cope. They plan an anniversary trip in the spring, compliments of their children.

Esther and Winfred were married Nov. 28, 1963, at Green Pond Baptist Church, Jackson, S.C., by the Rev. T.D. Parker. Esther is the daughter of the late Hastings and Evelyn Hair Owens; Winfred is the son of the late Ollie R. and Carol Chisholm Cope. They have lived in the CSRA since their marriage. Winfred is office manager at AFC Auto Sales & Finance and Esther is retired from C&S Bank, Augusta, Ga.
