Letter: Don’t capitalize on Christmas and refuse to use word in ads
I want to give my full support to Richard Healey, whose letter appeared in the Aiken Standard on Nov. 6.
Support should not be given to any company that looks to capitalize on Christmas but refuses to use the word Christmas in their ads.
I communicated with Target two years ago because they refuse to use the word. I was told that they had some calls saying the word offended some people and to be fair to all, they weren’t using the word Christmas in their ads. I told him that not using the word offended me, but he said there was nothing he could do.
He did add that Target was now allowing their employees to say “Merry Christmas” to customers. Big deal. I still don’t shop there, and won’t until I see the word Christmas in their ads.
