Some in Congress seem determined to repeal Obamacare and send the problem of health care in the U.S. back to committee for another 60 years. If successful, it would be a case of throwing out the baby with the bath water.

The very many problems can and must be solved because there are more than 50 million Americans without insurance. It is estimated that one of these die every 20 minutes for lack of insurance to seek medical care.

Our health care system ranks last or near last of 17 countries tested. Except for Belarus and a few Baltic states, we are the only industrialized country without a universal health care system.

While many of us get good care because of Medicare and supplementary insurance, many desperate millions lacking insurance get little or no care.
