Darley Stable’s homebred Centring is the 2/1 morning line favorite for Saturday’s Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Handicap at Belmont Park. The 5-year-old multiple graded stakes placed mare, drew post position no. 6 in the field of eight horses, and will have jockey Joel Rosario in the irons.
Centring was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones, and is conditioned at the racetrack by Tom Albertrani. The mare is by the 1992 Horse of the Year, A.P. Indy, and is out of the Touch Gold mare, multiple Grade 1 winner Composure. Centring is a half-sister to graded stakes placed Tranquil Manner.
A model of consistency, Centring has placed in three Grade 1 stakes, including the Grade 1 Beldame Invitational Stakes in her last start on Sept. 28. However, the bay mare is still looking for her first stakes victory. Centring breezed 5-furlongs at Belmont Park on Oct. 16, working in 1:02:55.
Centring has lifetime earnings of $339,102.
