The Savannah River Site announced today it will close an additional barricade as a result of the current government shutdown.

Effective midnight on Thursday, Oct. 17, Barricade Six, which includes the Road 6 and Highway 125 entrance to the Site, will be closed.

“Employees should plan on using alternate barricades until further notice,” said DOE-SR representative Bill Taylor in an email.

Also at midnight on Thursday, barricades One and Two, which include the Augusta and Aiken entrances, respectively, will have reduced staffing levels. Due to the reduction, the Aiken Barricade go from four lanes to three, and the Augusta Barricade will go from three lanes to two.

“Employees should exercise caution when approaching the barricades and expect delays during shift change hours,” Taylor added.

Last week, SRS announced the closing of Barricades Eight and Ten. Both will remain closed until further notice.
