Suspect sought in armed robbery of Beech Island store

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at the Family Dollar on Sand Bar Ferry Road in Beech Island on Saturday night.

A cashier at the store said that while he was ringing up a customer, a black man entered the store, pointed what appeared to be a pistol that was covered by a purple towel at him and said, “Give me the money.” The cashier said he gave the man the drop box from the cash register that contained an unknown amount of money and an unknown amount of money that was already out of the register.

The subject then left the store through the front door and fled toward Sand Bar Ferry Road.

The responding officer's report described the subject as a 25- to 30-year-old male with a “medium brown complexion,” He weighs 160 to 180 pounds and is 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall. The subject was wearing a white T-shirt and gray pants. A black hood and scarf covered his head.
