According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:
A 16-year-old high school student was arrested for third-degree assault and battery after punching a male student in the face, causing the student’s head to hit a brick wall.
A 38-year-old Cordova man was detained for shoplifting on Thursday after he tried to push a cart full of merchandise out of a store on Whiskey Road without paying.
A vehicle break-in was reported on Thursday on University Parkway. A man was seen going through the saddle bags of a parked motorcycle and taking items.
A 72-year-old Aiken woman reported on Thursday that she was targeted by a scammer. The woman told police a man with a foreign accent called her claiming to represent a technical support company. He told her he needed to refund her for a past financial transaction and tried to obtain her bank card information. The suspect became angry and started using profanity when she refused.
According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office:
A North Augusta woman reported on Thursday that someone flattened all four of the tires on her vehicle parked on Beaulah Avenue.
Burglaries were reported Thursday on Lackspur Road in Wagener, Luce Avenue in North Augusta, Springdale Road in Graniteville, Connie’s Way in Aiken and Dusk Trail Road in Ridge Spring.
