S.C. to help boost tourism to Georgetown after fire
GEORGETOWN (AP) — South Carolinas tourism agency is working to promote tourism to Georgetown after last week’s fire in the coastal city’s business district.
Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Duane Parrish visited Georgetown on Monday where a fire destroyed seven buildings in the city’s riverside dining and business district.
He said PRT will put postings about Georgetown on its Facebook page which has more than 190,000 “likes.”
In addition, bloggers who cover food, golf, culture and other areas for PRT’s website will visit Georgetown and prepare postings. Georgetown attractions will also be promoted at the PRT welcome centers on major highways leading into the state.
