TV picks for Sept. 29-Oct. 5
“BREAKING BAD” SERIES FINALE – It hardly seems fair that this electrifying drama aired for only five seasons, but all “Bad” things must come to an end. Of course, fans will be perched on the edge of their sofas to see how the final act plays out for Walter White (Bryan Cranston), the mild-mannered chemistry teacher who morphed into a murderous drug lord. We have no idea what’s going to go down, but Cranston tells viewers to expect an episode that’s “unapologetic and very ‘Breaking Bad.’” 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC.
SUNDAY: This could be a bad sign: Season 23 of “The Amazing Race” begins tonight and we’re already out of breath. To the couch we go. 8 p.m., CBS.
SUNDAY: That tantalizing cliffhanger has us stoked for the new season of “The Good Wife.” Now, can Alicia (Julianna Margulies) manage to keep her plans to leave the firm a secret? 9 p.m., CBS.
SUNDAY: As Season 3 of “Homeland” begins, Brody (Damian Lewis) is on the lam and Carrie (Claire Danes) is off her meds. This can’t end well. 9 p.m., Showtime.
SUNDAY: “Masters of Sex,” the compelling new drama about William Masters and Virginia Johnson (Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan) contains a lot of naked people hooking up. But, relax, it’s all in the name of science. 10 p.m., Showtime.
MONDAY: “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey” tells the inspiring, fairy tale-like story of Arnel Pineda, who went from being a small-time club singer in the Philippines to the front man for the rock band Journey. 10 p.m., PBS.
TUESDAY: They struck it rich in the lottery. Now what? The new drama, “Lucky 7” continues as fame beckons and reality begins to set in for our little gas-station crew. 10 p.m., ABC.
WEDNESDAY: Bad guys, beware. Blair Underwood attempts to fill the shoes – and the wheelchair – of Raymond Burr in a remake of “Ironside” that has him playing the driven crime-fighter. 10 p.m., NBC.
THURSDAY: Ready for some Klaus encounters? “The Originals,” a spinoff of “The Vampire Diaries,” has the bad boy bloodsucker (Joseph Morgan) setting up shop in New Orleans. 9 p.m., The CW.
THURSDAY: Buckle your seat belts: Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and “Scandal” are back tonight. The turbocharged drama picks up just minutes after last season’s stunning cliffhanger left off. 10 p.m., ABC.
FRIDAY: Book it, Danno: “Hawaii Five-0” may be airing on a new night, but it’s still full of tropical splendor – and plenty of murderers for McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) to chase. 9 p.m., CBS.
SATURDAY: “Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight” isn’t about his bouts with Joe Frazier or George Foreman. It’s a film that recalls the boxer’s Supreme Court legal battle after refusing to be drafted into the U.S. military. Frank Langella stars as Chief Justice Warren E. Burger. 8 p.m., HBO.
