Ridge Spring-Monetta 13
The Kennedy Middle School football team scored its first win of the season, a 35-13 triumph over Ridge Spring-Monetta (1-1). Five different players found the end zone for Kennedy (1-1) Wednesday, as Reid Bolen, David Ray, Deshun Kitchings, Garrett Paschal and Tahiem Cox all scored touchdowns. Kennedy’s next game will be at home on Sept. 25 against AL Corbett.
South Aiken 3

South Aiken opened Region 5-AAAA play with a sweep of Dutch Fork on Tuesday. The Thoroughbreds prevailed 25-10, 25-23, and 26-24. Bailey Parker had six kills for South Aiken, while Lisa Herbold added three kills and Lauren Howard contributed 15 assists. The T-Breds were at their best with either Parker or Hannah Holbrook serving, as they combined to win 31 points when they put the ball in play. South Aiken will play at Lexington today.
In the junior varsity match, the T-Breds won 25-6, 25-16. Miranda Gay had five assists and three aces while Tay Hickman added three aces and Ashley Blair totaled four kills.
