Darley homebred among entries in Grade 1 Garden City Stakes

Darley Stable’s homebred, With Sugar on Top, will be taking a step up in class this Saturday, in the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes. The 1 1/8-mile race is carded for the turf at Belmont Park, and the dark bay filly will break from post position no. 3 in the field of 11 horses, and will have jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. in the irons.

With Sugar on Top is by Grade 1 winner Unbridled’s Song, is out of the Grade 2 winning mare Fast Cookie, and is trained at the racetrack by Kiaran McLaughlin.

The filly won her last time out, a 1 1/8-mile allowance race on the turf, by 1 1/2-lengths at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 22.

A three-time winner, With Sugar on Top, was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones.
