MIDLAND VALLEY 38, ALLENDALE-FAIRFAX 32

Midland Valley (1-1) got in the win column with a road victory over Allendale-Fairfax (2-1) on Friday.


The Mustangs got a healthy portion of their production on the ground from junior running back Dre Carr, who had 153 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries and had the deciding score from 16 yards out with 2:09 remaining. Sophomore quarterback Daniel Carr added 157 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown on 18 carries to go with a 9-15 passing performance for 146 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions.


Five Mustangs had receptions, led by Stephon Morency with a 60-yard catch. Trenton Baughman had two catches for 31 yards and caught a 20-yard touchdown strike, and Christian Beecher had three catches for 30 yards.


Derrick O’Conner sealed the Mustang win by batting down a pass on fourth down with 1:09 remaining. Midland Valley will host Aiken next Friday at 7:30 p.m.


RIDGE SPRING-MONETTA 24, DIXIE 0

Ridge Spring-Monetta (2-1) did all its scoring in the first half and cruised to a shutout win over Dixie (0-3).


Quarterback Reggie Preston showed his dual-threat capabilities, completing 4 of 9 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions while rushing 10 times for 115 yards and a 67-yard touchdown to Travious Wigfall.


Wigfall also had 10 rushes for 129 yards and another score for the Trojans, who totaled 331 yards on 34 carries on the ground.


“We like to think that we can run the football every Friday night,” said RS-M head coach Heath Corley, acknowledging Saluda’s physicality made that difficult last week. “That’s going to be something we know we’ve got to do. ... We challenged the offensive line, and they responded tonight.”


The Trojans will travel to play McCormick next Friday at 7:30 p.m.


FOX CREEK 41, BRANCHVILLE 7

Fox Creek (2-1) went on the road and handed Branchville (1-1) its first loss of the young season in emphatic fashion.


Ike El led the Predators’ efforts on the ground with 141 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while reigning Aiken Standard Player of the Week Jaquan Williams added 82 yards on seven carries. Quarterback Deondre Baskett completed 2 of 4 passes, both touchdowns. One went to Brett Butler, and the other was a 50-yard strike to Darshon Broadwater.


Fox Creek has a bye next week before hosting cross-river rival Augusta Christian on Sept. 20.
