The Aiken Standard and Aiken Staffing will sponsor an employment expo on Thursday, Sept. 19. The expo will be held at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center from 3 to 7 p.m.
There are 6,600 job seekers in the area, said Dee Taylor, the advertising director at the Aiken Standard.
The expo will be a great way to potentially find employment, she said.
“Due to the success of our expo in February, we felt like another expo this year would find the same success,” Taylor said.
For employers, expo organizers are offering several sponsorship and exhibitor packages that include exhibitor space, print and online advertising.
“Vendors will benefit with effective use of their time and having the ability to come into contact with hundreds of potential applicants,” Taylor said. “They can interact with active and passive job seekers due to the four-hour time frame.”
Several vendors have already registered for the event. These include Miller Motte, Bridgestone, the Aiken County detention center, Banker's Life & Casualty, City of Aiken, Kronotex, UHS Pruitt, Aiken Staffing, Limestone College, Michelin Lexington, Triangle Dodge and the Aiken Standard.
The Aiken Standard sponsored a similar expo in February at Newberry Hall. The expo saw great success with more than 600 attendees, Taylor said.
The success of the event prompted the move to the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center for the upcoming expo.
“We had over 600 people in attendance at February's event,” Taylor said. “With that success, we chose to move to a bigger venue. Attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes and a positive attitude.”
The H. Odell Weeks Activities Center is located at 1700 Whiskey Road.
