A dark bay horse seems to be living up to his famous namesake.

The Willcox has distinguished itself as one of the world’s finest hotels, and a son of Harlan’s Holiday, named after the Aiken establishment, keeps adding to his already successful career.

Lael Stable’s and All In Stable’s Willcox Inn, won his first race during his 5-year-old campaign, and did it in impressive fashion, coming from off the pace, engaging in a fierce battle with a Gallant Eagle, and getting up in the final jump to win the 1 1/8-mile, $150,000, Grade 3 Washington Park Handicap over the Polytrack Elite surface at Arlington Park.

Willcox Inn was ridden to victory by regular jockey James Graham, and the Mike Stidham charge has now won at least one race in each of the last four years, including four stakes victories, with the Grade 3 Washington Park Handicap being his first added money win since capturing the Grade 3 Hawthorne Derby on Oct. 15, 2011.

Willcox Inn has 6 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds, from 20 starts, and increased his lifetime earnings to $939,543.
