An 18-year-old man accused in the attempted armed robbery of a restaurant on Wednesday reportedly fled the scene after a restaurant employee told him to "go home," according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Novian Gabrille Taylor was charged with robbery and trespassing in an enclosed space. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained on Thursday morning.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Burger King on York Street, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety. A man entered the restaurant near the playground wearing a black face covering, a black hoodie and khaki pants. He also had a black handgun. The suspect approached the front counter and demanded all of the money, according to the report.
An employee told police "she did not believe the handgun was real, so she told the suspect to "go home," according to the report. The suspect then "became aggravated because his request was not taken seriously and began pointing the handgun at several other employees and several other people seated in the dining area."
The suspect then left through the same door he entered, without any money, according to the report. The Aiken County bloodhound tracking team was called in to search for the suspect.
