According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:

An unknown woman tried to leave a store on Richland Avenue without paying for several items, including pajama items and a bed comforter. She dropped the items while running to a car, in which she fled.

A vehicle break-in was reported on Aiken Mall Drive on Tuesday. The victim reported that she left her vehicle unlocked and the windows down, and that her purse was stolen.

An additional vehicle break-in was reported on Greengate Circle on Tuesday. The owner reported that the vehicle was unlocked and three swords were missing.

According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office:

Copper wire was reported stolen from a cellphone tower on Old Graniteville Highway in Aiken on Tuesday.

A Beech Island woman reported on Tuesday that someone entered her school classroom, went into her purse and took money out of her daughter’s wallet.

A 29-year-old Beech Island man was detained for driving under the influence on Tuesday after officers saw him intoxicated at a gas station. Officers observed damage to the man’s vehicle and noticed that a nearby sign had also been damaged. The man, who said he was driving the vehicle, smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication. He refused to submit to field sobriety testing or provide a breath sample and was arrested.

Someone reportedly cut off the catalytic converter from a van belonging to a church on Pine Log Road in Langley on Monday.

A burglary was reported on Tuesday at the welcome center on Interstate 20 in North Augusta. A lock box of cash was reported missing.

An additional burglary was reported on Finklin Road in Beech Island on Monday.

A vehicle was reported stolen from Columbia Highway in Aiken on Tuesday.
