Dr. James Hagan, medical director of the Wound Healing Institute of Carolina at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, recently obtained the highest level of credentialing for a physician in wound care.

Hagan became board certified in wound care by the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery. Nationwide, there are 200 physicians that have the ABWMS certification.

Hagan began practicing in 1985 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He is also board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

“I like the concept of life-long learning. Preparing for this exam, attending conferences, etc. has positively impacted the care that I can give,” said Hagan, medical director of the Wound Healing Institute of Carolina.

The Wound Healing Institute is located on the main campus at Aiken Regional Medical Centers and offers some of the most advanced wound care therapies available today, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
