James Hackman’s and Glenn Thompson’s Two Notch Road will attempt to end a seven-race losing streak, but will have his work cut out for him in Sunday’s Grade 3 Oceanport Stakes at Monmouth Park.
The 1 1/16-mile turf race will be the dark bay gelding’s fourth stakes start of 2013. The 6-year-old stakes winner placed a solid third in the Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes at the Oceanport, N.J. track on June 9. Two Notch Road is the 10th choice in the field of 11 horses, is 20/1 on the morning line, and will break from post position no. 9. Jockey Shannon Uske gets the return call on the Virginia-bred son of Partner’s Hero.
This will be Two Notch Road’s 15th trip postward. The Glenn Thompson charge’s last victory came in an allowance race at Monmouth Park on June 6, 2010. All three of Two Notch Road’s wins have been at Monmouth Park. The gelding last worked on July 14, breezing a half-mile in 49.80.
The horse named after the road parallel to the Aiken Training Track has earned $250,135.
