Georgia is reeling in its fourth Bass Pro Shops Outpost store in Columbia County near Augusta.
The store is set to open in either fall of 2014 or spring of 2015 at the intersection of I-20 and Flowing Wells Road.
Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, said in a press release the visible location and easy accessibility of the new store will bring low prices, expert and friendly service for sportsmen and women, as well as visitors to the Augusta area each year. The store is a venture between McKnight Properties and Columbia County.
Ron Cross, Columbia County Commission chairman, said the public and private partnership between Bass Pro Shops, McKnight Properties and the County is a wonderful thing which will provide shopping opportunities for Columbia County residents and those around the region, and the county looks forward to the long-term partnership.
The new 50,000-square-foot store will offer fishing and hunting amenities, clothing and equipment for hiking and camping, as well as outdoor cooking supplies. Outdoor items such as bird feeders, furniture, lamps and dishes will be located within the store's nature and gift center.
A boat showroom showcasing Nitro, Tracker, SunTracker, Tahoe, Mako and Grizzly boats will be on display built by Tracker Marine Group, the world's largest manufacturer of fishing boats.
Bass Pro Shops has 77 stores and marine centers in the nation and across Canada.
