One man in custody in shooting incident

An Aiken man has been booked into the Aiken County detention center in relation to a shooting incident that occurred Saturday night, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Capt. Eric Abdullah reports Demetris Williams, 27, is expected to be charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at approximately 11:34 p.m. from a witness that there was someone lying in the street near 3001 Vaucluse Road. Responding deputies located the victim who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

With the assistance of witnesses, deputies identified and located Williams at his residence on Eutaw Street, according to Abdullah.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment; his condition is unknown.

This is an ongoing investigation.
