Skilyr Hicks’ “America’s Got Talent” journey ended in Las Vegas.
Judge Heidi Klum delivered the bad news to the 14-year-old North Augusta resident and another contestant simultaneously during a pretaped episode of the NBC television show, which aired on Wednesday night.
“I need to tell you that you will not be going to New York, and I’m so sorry,” Klum said.
A self-taught guitarist, singer and songwriter, Hicks vowed to continue pursuing her career in music after learning her fate.
“It’s definitely not going to stop me; I’m going to keep on going,” she said.
Hicks earned a trip to Las Vegas by singing her original song, “A Brand New Day,” during her audition for “America’s Got Talent.” While she was in Nevada, Hicks performed again before the program’s four judges made their decision not to include her among the contestants who advanced to the live New York shows at Radio City Music Hall. Those shows will begin next week.
