Officers responded to a grand larceny on June 25 on Martintown Road. Upon arrival, they made with the complainant, who stated that he was caring for his mother, who has Alzheimer’s, and found that her wedding ring was missing. Due to her condition, she did not know what happened to it, and the complainant stated that a nurse from a home health service came to visit his mother, and he believed that the nurse may have taken it. The ring was described as having a platinum band with a ¾ karat diamond and two smaller ¼ karat diamonds on the side. The estimated value of the ring was approximately $2,500.
A second-degree burglary occurred on June 26 on Dove St. The complainant stated that she had arrived home and heard a noise in the kitchen area of her residence. She found that there was damage to her rear door, and then went back to her car, locked herself inside her vehicle and waited until officers arrived. Upon clearing the residence, officers found the screen on the carport door to be pulled away and found the interior of the door to the kitchen pushed in and the door frame broken due to a slide-type lock. The master bedroom was in disarray, and, after the complainant entered the residence, she found one rifle and one 32 inch flat-screen television missing.
A Lincolnton, Ga. man was arrested on charges of public drunkenness, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct on June 22. Officers were dispatched to a restaurant on Knox Ave. and found a heavy-set, nude male running north up Knox Ave. After trying to make contact with the man attempted to dodge them, running to Old Edgefield Road. They then pursued the man on foot, and another officer went around to cut off the suspect. The suspect was taken down in a grassy area. The man was identified and stated that he was at a party swimming and that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. He was then transferred to the Aiken County Detention Center.
A grand larceny occurred on June 15 at a local apartment complex on Conifer Ct. The complainant stated someone had stolen air conditioning units from apartments that were being renovated. The cost of repairing and replacing the units was estimated at $18,000. The officer observed the damage to the units and found that one unit had all of its interior parts removed, and another was completely gone. A third had been dismantled and the copper tubing removed, and the final had only the frame present as well.
A man from Edgefield was arrested and jailed on June 14 on charges of possession of marijuana and public drunkenness. Upon arriving to West Pine Grove Ave. in reference to a loud noise complaint, officers observed the man sitting in a white Ford F-150 and found bodily fluids next to the vehicle. They also found what was believed to be a marijuana stem in the center console of the vehicle. After the man stepped outside of the vehicle, he stated that he did not know of any illegal substances. A brown and green leafy substance was found in the vehicle as well. The man was unsteady on his feet, had a strong odor of alcohol and admitted to throwing up before the officers’ arrival. The owners of the house where the man was parked said that they had just met him earlier that evening at the river. He was transferred to the Aiken County Detention Center, and his vehicle was towed.
