One of two men wanted by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office for attempted murder turned himself in to lawmen on Wednesday.
Torveese Devylle Kirkland, 25, of Abney Road in Monetta, was charged with attempted murder and placed in the Aiken County detention enter, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah.
Authorities are still searching for 32-year-old Jemmell Jermaine Morris, of Williams Street in Ridge Spring, who is wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous, police said.
The two allegedly were involved in a shooting at a home on Trojan Road in Monetta on June 23, Abdullah said. Officers arrived at the scene and found no one in the home; however, they found evidence that someone had forced their way into the home.
Abdullah said the 26-year-old victim had arrived at Aiken Regional Medical Centers with a gunshot wound to the stomach. A motive for the shooting is not known.
Morris is described as a black male, 6-feet-1-inch tall and weighing 173 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Morris' whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 803-648-6811 or CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIME-SC.
