Irvin J. “Jim” Norland
WARRENVILLE, SC – Mr. Irvin J. “Jim” Norland, 83, of Warrenville, SC, beloved husband of fifty-nine years to Mrs. Elaine Frantz Norland, entered into rest on Thursday, June 20th, 2013. Born in Le Mars, IA, he was a son of the late Irvin J. Sr. and Helen Stodden Norland. He was a resident of the Denver area most of his life, graduating from the University of Denver. Following graduation he entered the United States Air Force where he proudly served during the Korean War and was a writer for Stars and Stripes. He returned to the University of Denver following the war where he was a writer and photographer. In 1986 he came to the CSRA where he became a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his children, Robert (Sharon) Norland, John (Jenny) Norland, Thomas (Julie) Norland, Helen (the late Marty) Kulinski, Paula (Charles) Stuhaan, Stanley Norland and Donna (Mark) Barkley and a brother, Richard (Donna) Norland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013, at 11 o’clock at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Gloverville, SC, with Father Hugo Ruiz celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Chuck Stuhaan, Karl Wunder, Jason Gribek, Brendan Gribek, Hunter Ledbetter and Mike Norland. It has been asked by the family that if so desired memorials be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (**please note food pantry on memorial**) P.O. Box 419 Gloverville, SC. A Christian Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 2013, at 7 o’clock at the funeral home. The family will greet friends following the wake service until 9 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
