Anne Wesberry Buchanan of Aiken and Brian Randolph Scott of Columbia were united in marriage Saturday, June 15, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The Reverend Doctor John R. Wall performed the 6:00 p.m. ceremony. Miss Kimberly Michelle Hoover served as bell ringer. A Bible belonging to the bride’s grandparents, presented by their parents upon the occasion of their wedding, rested on the pulpit.


The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Nicholson Buchanan of Aiken. She is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James William Franklin, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Buchanan of Aiken. The bride is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and a Master of Education in language and literacy. She is employed by the School District of Lexington/Richland Five.


The groom is the son of the late Mr. Norris Randolph Scott and Mrs. Norris Randolph Scott of Columbia and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haight Tyler of Chapin. He is a grandson of Mrs. Olin Craig Scott and the late Mr. Olin Craig Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wayne Skipper of Columbia. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, management and finance, and a Master of Education. He is employed by the School District of Lexington/Richland Five.


Matron of honor was Mrs. Kaminer Haislip Quinn, and maid of honor was Miss Mary Bailey Buchanan, cousins of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Rebecca Eleanor Bookstaver, Mrs. Kendall Robinson Buchanan, sister-in-law of the bride; Miss Kathleen Hagan Gardner, Mrs. Elizabeth Jeter Kiser, Mrs. Sara Rentz Krisnow, and Mrs. Amanda Mange Scott, sister-in-law of the bridegroom.


Mr. Christopher Dale Scott and Mr. Jacob Brandon Scott, brothers of the groom, stood as best men in memory of their father. Groomsmen were Mr. Franklin Nicholson Buchanan, brother of the bride; Mr. Adam Joseph Bugenske, Mr. Luther Bolding Cooper, Mr. Brett Christopher Huffstetler, Mr. Eric Edward Hyde, and Mr. Patrick Thomas Monahan.


Greeters were Miss Abigail Lee Darling, Miss Ashley Taylor Darling, Miss Madison Caroline Darling, and Miss Whitney Devore Simons. Ushers were Doctor Robert Lee Buchanan III, Mr. William Tarrant Buchanan, and Mr. Elmer Detwyler Haislip III, cousins of the bride.


Master Graydon Reid Scott served as ring bearer, and Miss Caroline Andrews Scott was the flower girl, nephew and niece of the groom.


The bride wore an antique lace fit to flare gown with an eyelash edged sweetheart neck line; the back was adorned with silk covered buttons, and the train was a cathedral length with a delicate pleated detail. The light ivory cathedral length veil with a half- moon scalloped Alencon lace detail was adorned by an heirloom headpiece worn by her grandmother and cousin.


A reception followed the ceremony at The Willcox where guests were welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. William Harry Busbee, Mr. William Starr Busbee, and Mr. Preston Sullivan Busbee, friends of the bride’s family.


After a wedding trip to the Riviera Maya, the couple will reside in Columbia.
