Aiken trained Side Road among entries in Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap

Darley Stable’s homebred Side Road has been entered in the 1 1/4-mile, $500,000, Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap, scheduled for the turf Saturday at Belmont Park.

The four-year-old son of Street Cry (IRE) was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones.

The graded stakes placed colt finished a strong second his last time out, in the 1 1/2-mile, Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes on the turf at Keeneland on April 26.

The chestnut colt is 20/1 on the morning line, and Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens will have the return call. Side Road’s dam is the multiple stakes placed mare Calla Lily,

A winner at ages three and four, the Kiaran McLaughlin charge has scored victories at Aqueduct and Keeneland.

Side Road has two wins, placed second twice and third once from 10 career lifetime starts, and has earned $121,520.
