Police: Charges are expected in N.A. stabbing

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office reports charges are expected in a Friday morning stabbing in North Augusta.

The suspect in the stabbing, Jonathan Robert Jones, is at the detention center and charges of attempted murder are expected, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident at a location near 356 Second Ave. at approximately 12:51 a.m.

Jones, 29, was involved in a verbal argument with the victim when Jones reportedly attacked the victim with a sharp object. The victim was cut on his left forearm and to his side.

A search of the area for the suspect was conducted, and Jones was found hiding in an abandoned residence near the incident location.

Jones was arrested, and the victim was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
