According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:
A Durham, N.C., man reported on Friday that someone damaged the windshield of his vehicle on Richland Avenue by throwing a glass beer bottle at the windshield, cracking the glass.
A 21-year-old Aiken man was detained for simple possession of marijuana on Friday after being pulled over on Brown Lane for disregarding a stop sign. An officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The man admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle, and he told the officer where it was located.
Two high school students were detained for simple possession of marijuana on Friday after they were found in possession of a partially smoked down cigar containing a green, plantlike material. The students admitted that it was marijuana and were taken into custody.
A New Ellenton man reported on Saturday that someone took his checkbook from inside his vehicle while it was being serviced at an automotive shop in the county. Two fraudulent checks had been written at Aiken businesses.
A 26-year-old Warrenville woman was detained for shoplifting on Saturday after she concealed several items in her handbag and tried to leave the Whiskey Road store without paying for the items.
Gunshots were reported on Plunkett Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers investigated but were not able to substantiate the call of shots fired.
A burglar alarm was reported at Second Baptist Church on Laurens Street about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Officers investigated and found an unsecured door on the building, but no signs of a disturbance.
A vehicle was reported stolen from Tracewood Place on Saturday.
According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office:
An Aiken man reported someone fired gunshots into his pickup following an argument “over a woman,” damaging the truck. Officers found two bullet holes in the rear side of the truck.
A burglary was reported on Roundtree Drive in Graniteville on Sunday.
A vehicle break-in was reported on Pine Log Road in Aiken on Sunday.
