Aiken County is now searching for a new Recreation Department director now that Brad Barnes is no longer in that position, according to Aiken County Administrator Clay Killian. Assistant Recreation Department Director Emory Langston is also no longer employed with the department, but may be transferred to a different department in the future, Killian said.

Killian referred to Barnes' situation as a "personnel decision" and offered no further comment on the matter. He said the assistant director's position with the recreation department will no longer be funded based on recommendations from the master plan for recreation currently being devised by Clemson University's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management.

Consequently, the County is currently discussing options with Langston about transferring to another department, Killian explained.

With the changes, Vincent DiPietro, the supervisor at Boyd Park Pond, will be taking over the department in the interim.
