James Hackman’s and Glenn Thompson’s Two Notch Road returns to the races Saturday after a 2 1/2-year layoff.

The stakes winner breezed this winter at the Aiken Training Track on a routine basis. Two Notch Road has drawn post position no. three for the 39th running of the Grade 3, $100,000, 1-mile Red Bank Handicap.

Two Notch Road, named after the thoroughfare that runs parallel to the Aiken Training Track, is no stranger to the turf course at Monmouth Park, after breaking his maiden during his sophomore campaign in the Continental Mile.

The 6-year-old bay gelding conditioned by Thompson, is graded stakes placed, and jockey Shannon Uske will have the return call. The son of Partner’s Hero made his last start on Oct. 9, 2010, a seventh place effort in the Grade 1 Jamaica Handicap at Belmont Park.

Two Notch Road worked Thursday, breezing a half-mile in 49 1/5 seconds at Monmouth Park.

The gelding didn’t race as a 5-year-old, but made 11 previous starts, and has three wins and one third, having bankrolled $224,135.
