Police blotter for May 14

According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:

A 17-year-old student was detained on Thursday for possession with intent to distribute marijuana after he was found at school with two pill bottles containing several individual plastic bags of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The man told officers he bought it from an unknown person and planned to sell it.

An Aiken man reported on Saturday that his brother stabbed him in the face with a hair pick, causing a gash on the left side of his face.

Two men were detained for shoplifting on Saturday after the reportedly tried to leave a store on Richland Avenue while wearing clothing from the store that they had not purchased.

A 26-year-old Aiken man was detained for disorderly conduct on Sunday after he was found lying in the middle of George Street about 8:20 p.m. The man appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was bleeding from his hands. He told officers he had been drinking, and that the wounds on his hands were from “punching trees in anger.”

A 56-year-old Aiken man was detained for DUI on Friday after officers pulled him over on Whiskey Road. The man reportedly pulled out quickly in front of a patrol car, forcing the officer to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the car. The man exhibited signs of intoxication, and was taken into custody after failing multiple field sobriety tests.

An unknown man concealed two bottles of champagne under his jacket and then left a store on King Edward Way without paying on Friday.

An Aiken man reported his wallet stolen while he was at a store on Whiskey Road on Friday. He told officers an unknown man brushed up against him, and he later noticed that his wallet was missing.

A 37-year-old Aiken man was detained for DUI on Saturday after he was pulled over on Whiskey Road for driving recklessly. The man was taken into custody after failing multiple field sobriety tests.

A Trenton woman reported on Saturday that someone took her wallet that she left unattended in a shopping cart.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired on Jehossee Drive on Sunday. They investigated but found no evidence that shots had been fired.

A vehicle was reported stolen from Powderhouse Road on Saturday.

A vehicle break-in was reported on Laurens Street on Saturday. The owner reported that her window had been shattered, and her purse was missing.

According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office:

A 56-year-old Aiken man was detained for DUI on Saturday after he was pulled over on Wire Road for swerving across the median multiple times. The man reportedly had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. He was taken into custody after failing multiple field sobriety tests.

A 31-year-old Aiken man was detained for shoplifting after he took two packs of beer from a store on Wagener Road in Aiken on Friday.

A 26-year-old Augusta man was detained for disorderly conduct on Sunday after he was seen by an officer stumbling to and entering his vehicle in the parking lot of a motel on Jefferson Davis Highway in Clearwater. The man exhibited signs of intoxication and told officers he had been drinking.

A burglary was reported at a store on Edgefield Highway in Aiken on Saturday. Cigarettes were reported missing.

Vehicles were reported stolen this weekend from flint Drive in Burnettown and Frontage Road in Aiken.

Burglaries were reported on Happiness Lane in Beech Island, Hill Street in North Augusta and Navaho Drive in North Augusta.

A vehicle break-in was reported on Hickory Street in Gloverville on Sunday.
