Dr. Tim Murph, principal at Fox Creek High School, has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.

A member of the Edgefield County charter school’s board of trustees issued a statement Friday evening, confirming that the board voted Tuesday “to place Dr. Murph on administrative leave with full pay and benefits effective immediately and until rescinded by the board of trustees.”

It added, “This is a confidential personnel matter that is being handled by the board’s attorneys. We appreciate the concerns of those in the community, and ask that they be patient and respect the investigative process going forward.”

No one has spoken on the record about the reason for the suspension. One faculty member confirmed the issue’s status as a “personnel matter.”

Fox Creek has retained attorneys from the Childs and Halligan law office in Columbia.

Murph has been principal at Fox Creek since the fall of 2006. He did not respond to invitations to speak on the matter by press time Friday night.
