Heritage Trail pottery tour and sale is friday

The Heritage Trail Pottery Tour and Sale will be held Friday through Sunday. More than 25 potters in the Greenwood and Edgefield areas are collaborating to host the weekend sale of their most recent work as well as pottery demonstrations and kiln openings at the five host studios. The studios are along Highway 25 between Edgefield and Greenwood. A schedule of events and the Heritage Trail Pottery Tour brochures are available at Refresh located at 137 Laurens St. S.W. and on www.facebook.com/ HeritageTrailPotteryTourSale. This is a family event and children are encouraged to attend and learn about making pottery through demonstrations and discussions.

Volunteers needed at Aiken visitor’s center

The Aiken County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department Visitors Center, 113 Laurens St. is recruiting volunteers for the summer. If interested, call Sherri Scott, tourism assistant, at 803-642-7557.

Applications accepted for advertising funding

Applications are now being distributed for State Accommodations Tax Funding for Fiscal Year 2014 by the Aiken County Accommodations Tax Advisory Board. These funds are for advertising nonprofit events or festivals in Aiken County from July 1 until June 30, 2014. Advertisements must be placed outside a 50-mile radius and/or out-of-state to increase tourist traffic. Applications must be delivered to the Aiken County Tourism Office & Visitor Center at 113 Laurens St., Suite 103, on or before noon, May 18.
