Man who allegedly shot ex-wife in custody

A Beech Island man wanted in Aiken for allegedy shooting his ex-wife is now in police custody.

Frank Muns, 48, of Beard Road, was arrested Saturday around 6:30 p.m. at the America's Best Inn & Suites on Gordon Highway in Augusta. Muns was wanted for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to an Aiken County Sheriff's report, Muns allegedly shot his ex-wife during a confrontation just before noon on April 6. The victim told officers she was returning home when she was approached by Muns. Police say he shot the victim twice in the abdomen as she was sitting in her car.

She was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Centers.

Police say they were led to Muns through an anonymous call. Muns was taken to the Richmond County Detention Center for holding, pending an extradition hearing.

Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the U.S. Marshall's South East Regional Task Force and Richmond County Sheriff's Office, assisted in the arrest.
