The eighth annual “Wish Upon A Car” Benefit Car Show sponsored by the Palmetto Kiwanis Club of Aiken will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Aiken Mall, located at 2441 Whiskey Road.
All proceeds from the show will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps to grant wishes to local children facing life-threatening medical conditions, as well as Kiwanis-supported children’s programs like the K-Kids club, a service program available at three local elementary schools.
Event coordinator Angela Boyette said the show is organized each year with lots of community support and hard work.
“We want each year’s show to be more successful than the previous year,” Boyette said. “If everybody comes out and has a good time and we’re able to raise funds for our charities, then I’d say it’s successful.”
All makes and models are welcome to enter the show. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. for the best in 17 classes, as well as superlative awards for Best Paint, Best Engine, Best Interior, Most Unusual, Make-A-Wish Award and Best of Show. Contestants can also vote for a People’s Choice Award.
Car clubs are encouraged to enter as well. The club with the most participation will win a trophy and $100.
The cost to preregister is $15. Registration will also be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $20.
Gift bags and dash plaques are given to the first 100 entries. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day and a silent auction will also be held.
Admission is free for spectators. The SCPA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, along with other local animal rescues and shelters, will be on hand with pets available for adoption.
Additionally, special entertainment will be provided by Elvis tribute artist Jason Sikes.
In case of rain, the show will be held May 4 at 9 a.m. at Aiken Mall.
