Franklin Jeffrey Gronde
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Franklin Jeffrey “Jeff” Gronde, 51, went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 14, 2013 at Tidelands Hospice in Georgetown after a short, but courageous battle with aggressive stomach cancer. Jeff was born in Mt. Holley, New Jersey on November 16, 1961. He graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC and Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. At ASU he met Tracey Piesch of Aiken SC. After graduation, he moved to Chapel Hill, NC where he married his college sweetheart, Tracey, on April 5, 1986. Due to job transfers, Jeff and his family were relocated to Kent Island, MD where they lived for 20 years. Over the years his most memorable times were spent on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing, sailing, hunting and crabbing. In 2005, the family relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC. Jeff was a statutory agent for Prudential Financial. Jeff built a very successful financial practice where he was assisted by his wife, Tracey. He was a very active member of Surfside Presbyterian Church, he was a booster member of the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach and he was an active alumni brother of Pi Kappa Phi. Jeff was truly a family man. He loved his wife and three children, they each held a special place in his heart. He will truly be missed by so many family members and friends. However, he now is in the presence of our Lord and the family members gone before him. He is survived by: his wife, Tracey Piesch Gronde, their three children, Nicholas D. Gronde (Baltimore, MD), Casey W. Gronde and Taylor A. Gronde both of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by his mother Mary Gronde, his sister Ruth Gronde (Roger) both of Atlanta, GA and his brother John Gronde (Debra) of Columbus, OH. He is predeceased by his father George H. Gronde of Queenstown, MD. The burial will be private for the family. A celebration service of Jeff’s life will be held at Surfside Presbyterian Church (8732 U.S. 17 Bypass - Myrtle Beach, SC 29588) on Saturday April 27, 2013 at 12 P.M. His family will receive friends and guests between 11-12 with the celebration service immediately following. Jeff’s family wishes to thank everyone who helped take care of him at MUSC and Tidelands Hospice.
