Teens cited for possession of beer

About 30 teenagers were cited for minor in possession of beer after Aiken Public Safety officers busted a house party on Laurel Drive.

A neighbor reported a loud party at the home about 1 a.m. on April 6, according to the report. Officers could smell burning marijuana coming from behind the home when they arrived.

When the officers tried to make contact at the back door of the home, about 30 teens began running upstairs to the home’s second floor, according to the report. They detained the group of teens, who ranged in age from 16 to 18.

A 17-year-old man told officers the home was his, and that he was hosting the party while his parents were out of town, according to the report.

Officers released the teens to the custody of their parents and poured the beer, liquor and wine coolers in the home down the drain, according to the report.
