Armed robbery reported on Monday

The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating an armed robbery that happened on Newberry Street early Monday.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m., according to a report.

The 33-year-old victim said he was held at gunpoint by two men who took several items from him, police said. Officers patrolled the area and the Aiken County Bloodhound Tracking Team was called to the scene.

One of the victim’s stolen items was recovered, according to the report. The report did not indicate what items were stolen.

No arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon.

Woman reports fraudulent transactions

An Aiken woman reported on Friday that someone took her ATM card and used it to make several fraudulent transactions, according to Aiken Public Safety.

The transactions happened between 6:20 and 10 a.m., according to a report.

The unknown suspect went to several locations around Aiken and made multiple transactions, ranging from $107 to more than $300.

The victim was unsure of when her debit card was taken, but remembers using it at a restaurant in Columbia, according to the report. She is also unaware of how the suspect obtained her PIN. The victim called the bank and canceled the card.
