CHARLESTON — An investigation into how The Citadel handled a complaint that a former camp counselor molested boys finds no conspiracy on the part of the school, but instead shows an inadequate probe into the complaint.
The college hired outside experts to investigate its handling of the 2007 complaint involving Skip ReVille, who is now serving 50 years in prison for sex abuse.
The report released Friday centers on a complaint about ReVille when he was a counselor at the college’s summer camp in 2002. The school looked into the matter but never contacted police.
ReVille later worked at schools, camps, churches and recreation programs in the Charleston area.
A civil suit against The Citadel alleges others would not have been harmed had the college reported ReVille to police at the time.
