An Aiken woman accused of shoplifting allegedly took several bags full of merchandise from Kroger without paying, but not before stopping at Starbucks for a drink on the way out, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

A store employee told officers that an unknown woman took an unknown amount of merchandise from the store without paying for it on Sunday, according to the report. The suspect placed the items into shopping bags that were also taken from the store.

The suspect then went to Starbucks inside the store and purchased a drink before leaving, according to the report. She continued out to the parking lot, which she left from in a black Lincoln Navigator.

The reporting officer viewed surveillance footage of the incident and recognized the suspect as 41-year-old Pamela Ely, of Brandy Road in Aiken, according to the report. Officers went to Ely’s home and saw a Lincoln Navigator in the driveway that matched the one seen in the shoplifting video.

Officers planned to obtain a warrant for shoplifting for Ely.
