An Aiken woman is dead after she was struck by a Jeep Saturday afternoon while walking along York Street.
Lukisha Nicole Thomas was pronounced dead at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday while in surgery at Georgia Regents Medical Center, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. She died from multiple body trauma.
Thomas, her 2-year-old son, and Ray Charles Wooden Jr. were on the sidewalk on York Street near the intersection of Eastern Place when a 2006 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Thomas G. Woodruff Jr. of Aiken, left the roadway and struck Thomas and Wooden.
The accident occurred at approximately 2 p.m.
Both Thomas, 29, and Wooden were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center.
As of press time, Wooden was undergoing surgery. His condition was unknown.
The 2-year-old was evaluated and released from Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
An autopsy on Thomas is scheduled for today in Newberry.
This tragic collision is being investigated by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
