Thanks for support with Heart Benefit
Thank you, Aiken, for making this year’s Heart Benefit a wonderful success. A week of extraordinary singing and acting made “Remember Then” one of the best shows ever.
It is with great pride that we note the performance was “All Aiken.”
It was Aiken-written and directed, with Aiken actors, singers, band and sets.
The 2013 Heart Benefit sold a record of just under 4,000 tickets and raised a record $106,000 for the American Heart Association. Over the last 44 years, this benefit has now raised well over $1.5 million for heart research.
The Aiken Women’s Heart Board wants to thank everyone in the show for their tremendous efforts and extraordinary talent.
First, we give a tip of the hat and our heart-felt thanks to Jim Moore, our writer/director, who has produced these shows for 35 years. Thanks also to his able assistant director, Agnes Hobson, music director Darrell Rains, the band Low Down Brown and the fabulous members of the cast. And thanks to those special volunteers whose professional expertise helped stage the performance: set construction, choral master, choreography, stage manager, sound crew, lighting crew and the great personnel from the Etherredge Center. And thanks to all the Aiken businesses who advertised in our program and to the Aiken Standard for its excellent coverage of the benefit and the Heart Tea.
Finally, a thank you to the 45 ladies of the Aiken Women’s Heart Board who volunteer their time and energy to sponsor the Heart Benefit each year.
This was our first benefit without our founder, Eleanor Bookstaver, who would have been so proud of this year’s show. We are blessed to serve a community like Aiken, with its talent, leadership and generosity. Thank you, Aiken.
