USC Aiken 9-14 North Georgia 2-10
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Winners of 10 straight, the nationally eighth-ranked USC Aiken baseball team completed a three-game sweep of North Georgia.
After opening the series with a 13-2 win on Friday, USCA (25-5, 12-3 PBC) opened Saturday’s doubleheader sweep with a 9-4 game one victory. The Pacers closed out the sweep of North Georgia (9-18, 3-9 PBC) with a 14-10 second game win.
The Pacers entered the bottom of the eighth inning of game one clinging to a 5-1 advantage. North Georgia then plated three in the bottom of the frame to pull within one at 5-4.
USCA would then put the game out of reach for North Georgia in the top of the ninth inning with four runs.
Bill Gerstenslager continued his recent tear at the plate in the game as he was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
USCA starting pitcher Derek Beasley improved to a perfect 7-0 on the year in the game by dealing seven innings. He struck out four in the game.
Taylor Grover dealt the final 1⅓ innings for USCA for his seventh save.
North Georgia starter Clint Spratlin (1-1) earned the loss for the Saints on the mound in game one Saturday. He allowed five runs, while striking out three.
USCA starting pitcher Wyatt Brown improved to 4-1 on the year with his victory in the second game. He dealt 5⅓innings, striking out two. Gerstenslager led the Pacer cause in game two. He was 4-for-5 at the dish, driving in one run and scoring another. Gerstenslager has now hit safely in 17 straight games.
Both Josh Miller and Baur closed out the Pacer win with three hits each.

Ben Donath also homered in the Pacer second game victory on Saturday.
Branden Millhouse, Sean Miller and Ryan Metzler each ended the second game on Saturday with two hits each.
Barkell did not claim multiple hits in game two, but with his hit in the second game on Saturday he now has hit safely in 21 straight games.
