Midland Valley 23, Orangeburg-Wilkinson 0
Midland Valley put 23 runs on the scorebored Monday night en route to a 23-0 victory over Orangeburg-Wilkerson in the Mustang Invitational. The game went five innings and Cameron Levi pitched a no-hitter for Midland Valley. Caleb Glenn went 2-2 with two runs in the game. The Mustangs play Barnwell today at 5 p.m.
Fox Creek 5, Dixie 1
The Fox Creek baseball team moved to 1-0 on the season as they won the opener of the Midland Valley tournament 5-1 over Dixie high school. Terrance Hillary finished the game with two RBIs and Brent Lacey picked up the win for the Predators. Fox Creek will next face Silver Bluff on Wednesday evening.
USCA doubleheader postponed by weather
Because of the threat of inclement weather today, the USC Aiken softball team has rescheduled its home softball doubleheader with North Greenville to Wednesday. The doubleheader will now begin at 1 p.m. at J.H. Satcher Field.
USCA (6-3-1) enters the week having claimed six straight positive results. The Pacers were 5-0-1 last week. That includes a doubleheader sweep of Brevard Sunday.
The Pacers won game one 6-0, and secured the sweep over the Tornados (4-6) with a 2-0 victory in game two. Staked to a three-run lead after the first inning star pitcher India Kornegay never let Brevard back in the game. Kornegay (3-2) pitched a complete game, while surrendering only one hit. She was honored between games for becoming the 13th player in Peach Belt Conference history to strike out 500 batters in a career. She added 12 more strikeouts to her total in game one to leave her with 536 career strikeouts.
The Pacers got another sterling pitching performance in the second game, as Taylor Morgan tossed a complete game to clinch the sweep with a 2-0 shutout. Morgan (3-1) only gave up only three hits and struck out seven.
Midland Valley 14, Silver Bluff 8
Midland Vally opened the Palmetto Classic with a 14-8 victory over Silver Bluff Monday. Midland Valleys offensive effort was led by Amber Hong, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. Hayley Fleming went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Carly Clark was 2-for-3 with a triple. Mackenzie Henderson was the winning pitcher and Carly Kinard suffered the loss.
Siver Bluff’s Jasmn Squirewell finished the game with three hits. Lainy Fry also had a multiple hit effort with two hits. Midland Vally will play Barnwell on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
South Aiken 9, Saluda 2
South Aiken defeated Saluda 9-2 in softball action monday night. Hannah Martin had a stellar performance in the circle and the batters box. Martin was the winning pitcher for south Aiken and sh also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Caroline Hicks went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as well. South Aiken plays North Augusta Wednesday.
