Aiken man charged with sex crimes

A 30-year-old Aiken man was detained on 12 sex charges against a child on Friday, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Ralphael Lee Robertson, of Bent Arrow Road, was charged with eight counts of committing a lewd act upon a child and four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained on Monday afternoon.

According to a sheriff’s report, the incident was originally reported to authorities on Nov. 23, 2011.

The complainant told officers she received information from a male witness as to the alleged crime. The female victim “confided in (the witness) that the listed subject has showed his private parts to the victim and that the subject had performed oral sex on the victim,” the report stated.

The case has been forwarded to juvenile investigations, according to the report.

Robertson has multiple driving and drug violations on his record that goes back to 2003, as well as charges of forgery, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and providing false information, according to the detention center.
